Incoming Exchange students

Each year we welcome around 600 exchange students to our campus in Rennes for either a semester of study, a year of study or a Double Degree. By joining one of our exchange programmes, students coming from one of our partner institutions can enjoy an enriching local and international experience.

Exchange Programmes and requirements:

Eligibility

Your university must have an exchange agreement with Rennes School of Business and you must be registered as a degree-seeking student at your university. You do not have to pay fees at Rennes School of Business, only at your home institution.

  • For further details on how and when to go abroad, and which programmes or subjects you should study, please ask the exchange coordinator at your home institution.
  • You can come to Rennes SB for one semester or for a full academic year (except level 2 – fall semester only).
  • You can earn credits to transfer towards your university degree at your home institution.

The step-by-step incoming student guide:

1: Nomination

The nomination is the first step to come on exchange:

  • The home university nominates students online.
  • Then, we forward to nominated students the application information.

2: Application process

To complete your online application, you will need to upload on the platform:

  • Home University Coordinator form (download from platform, complete and upload back)
  • Passport-sized photo
  •  Copy of passport
  • Official Transcripts with the official stamp of home institution
  • CV in English
  • English proficiency (TOEFL iBT/TOEIC/IELTS/Home University’s certificate)

3: Letter of acceptance

Once we have reviewed and processed students’ applications, we will send a formal Letter of Acceptance directly to you.
When?

  •  For Fall semester exchange: in June
  • For Spring semester exchange: in November

Once you received the letter of acceptance, you can start preparing your departure: visa (if applicable), accommodation, travel arrangements

Visa for non-European students
Please contact the local French Embassy or Campus France in your country to obtain a visa application to arrange your stay in France as soon as you are admitted.

Accommodation
Rennes School of Business is available to help international students find suitable accommodation (student residences, private houses, shared flats, family homestays) in the city.

4: Enrollment and course selection

Once you receive the instructions by email, we advise applying quickly for your enrollment and for your online class registration on our dedicated platform.

When?

  • For Fall semester exchange: in June
  • For Spring semester exchange: in November

Specific course selection information :

It is important that you contact your home university Coordinator to check if the courses you wish to follow on exchange at Rennes SB suit your programme. If you need approval from Rennes SB for your Learning Agreement, you can send it by email to your Rennes SB Exchange Coordinator.

5: Orientation Days and semester start

The School provides an orientation programme for all international students the week before classes start. Sessions are compulsory and cover applications for residence permits, health insurance, banking, internet providers, mobile phones, bus pass and information sessions on French culture, academic expectations, and standards.

6: Examinations

When?

  • For Fall semester exchange: in December
  • For Spring semester exchange: in April

Resit exams take place end of June/beginning of July each year. Note that it is not possible to change exam dates upon the request of individual students.

7: Transcripts issuance

Transcripts are edited digitally and posted on the online Students’ platform (WebRise)

When?

  • For Fall semester exchange: in February
  • For Spring semester exchange: in July

Grading system

  • A Excellent: 70% or above
  • B Very good: 65%-69%
  • C Good: 58%-64%
  • D Satisfactory: 50%-57%
  • E Sufficient: 40%-49%
  • Fx Fail: 30%-39%
  • F Fail: Below 30%

Additional services and documentations

Students with disabilities or health problems

Rennes School of Business welcomes students with disabilities. Please contact the school before arrival (by sending an email to the team in charge of the administration of your programme). For students with reduced mobility, the school is equipped with lifts to access all the floors in the buildings and other amenities. Transport in Rennes is also adapted to persons with reduced mobility (metro & buses). Please specify your needs well in advance for Accommodation research purposes.
