A social security system for any Rennes SB student
The general French social security system is mandatory but free of charge for any Rennes School of Business student. To be covered medically during your first three months, we strongly advise you to contract a private social security insurance in your home country.

Apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
You have the possibility to apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) that will be valid for the whole duration of your stay. Be aware that it is not an alternative to travel insurance and it does not cover any civil liability and repatriation.

If you already had a French social security number last year, you will be automatically medically covered until August 31 2020 by LMDE or SMEBA or similar. You must inform any change in your status to your local social security office.

You can apply on-line to the French Social Security System (CPAM).
You are a non-European student
In France, the Health insurance coverage is mandatory even if in some countries a private health / travel insurance is required for the visa application. The French health insurance covers up to 70% of your medical expenses.
