Professor Öncü Hazir receives an IEOM Outstanding Teaching Award in Supply Chain Management
Professor Öncü Hazir was awarded an Outstanding Teaching Award in Supply Chain Management at the 12th Annual International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management in Istanbul, Turkey.
Öncü Hazir has been an Associate Professor in the Supply Chain Management and Information Systems Academic Area and Programme Manager of the MSc in Supply Chain Management at Rennes School of Business since 2017. He holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey and a PhD in Operations Management from Bilkent University – Faculty of Business Administration, also in Ankara, Turkey, in 2008. His research interests include Project Management, Inventory Management, Machine scheduling and Assembly line balancing and he has written and contributed to over 40 refereed articles, refereed proceedings and books on his different areas of expertise.
International recognition for his academic contributions
During the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) from 7-10 March 2022, Professor Hazir received recognition for his outstanding achievements, contributions and service in industrial engineering and operations management as he was awarded an Outstanding Teaching Award in Supply Chain Management.
IEOM Outstanding Teaching Awards
IEOM Outstanding Teaching Awards are a prestigious mark of recognition for individuals who have distinguished themselves through exceptional teaching and learning in the fields of industrial engineering and operations management. The award is attributed to instructors and professors who demonstrate themselves to be outstanding in the classroom. Recipients are considered to stimulate the intellectual curiosity of their students, demonstrate commitment to the learning process of their students as a professor and role model and positively influence the career development of their students while reflecting on their past teaching experience in order to continually develop and improve their practice.
This was the 12th annual edition of the IEOM conference, which, amongst other missions, intends to provide a forum for academics, researchers and industry practitioners to meet, exchange ideas and discuss recent developments in the field. The conference is also an excellent opportunity for networking, joint effort and collaboration among participants, which allows for the identification of major trends in the industries and gives rise to opportunities for continued theoretical development.
For professor Öncü Hazir “I am honoured to receive the Teaching Award in Supply Chain Management given by the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management (IEOM) Society, which is a global non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of industrial engineering and operations management discipline. This award particularly follows the publication of a textbook that I co-authored to support the teaching community in the field. The textbook contains many case studies, applied examples and detailed discussions of current topics to facilitate the implementation of active and collaborative learning methods in the classroom. I truly appreciate the recognition of my efforts to enhance the learning experience of all students in the field.”
